Plan Bead Colors, Counts and Pegboards
Read material references, estimate board coverage and check a bead list before starting your design.
Read More Than the Screen Swatch
A material entry may include a name, community reference number and retail SKU. Compare all of them with the beads you actually have. A hex value represents screen color, not material finish or transparency. MotifDraft does not check shop availability or claim manufacturer certification.
Replace a Color Consistently
Select the chart color you want to change, search the Perler catalog and use Replace selected color. All cells using that entry change together. If the target already exists in the chart, the entries merge. Review the live counts and download a revised project so the chart and material list remain consistent.
Understand What the Counts Include
Every occupied cell adds one bead to its material count; empty pegs add none. CSV lists materials that are actually used. The count does not include spares, damaged beads or purchasing pack sizes. Decide your own allowance rather than treating the exact chart count as a complete shopping recommendation.
Work Out the Rectangular Board Layout
A 32 × 32 chart divided into 29 × 29 sections has two sections across and two down: four pages. The right and bottom sections are partial. Printed row and column ranges describe where each section belongs. Check those ranges rather than assuming all pages contain full boards.
Check a Page Before Printing Everything
Match A4 or Letter between Export settings and the print dialog, choose 100% scaling and turn off browser headers and footers. Measure the 50 mm line. That verifies printer scaling, not peg spacing. Keep the PDF beside the board as a numbered reference.
Regenerate Lists After Editing
A later erasure, fill or material replacement changes the required quantities. Download CSV again after final edits. Save project preserves references and their data attribution. Keep the source and license notices with exports when sharing those references.
Before you start
- CSV and chart come from the same final version.
- Partial boards have been accounted for.
- Physical colors and sizes are confirmed.
- Any spare quantity is a separate decision.
Fuse beads Questions
Are Hama and Artkal matched automatically?
No. The supplied reference catalog is Perler Midi 5 mm. Custom labels are available, but there is no verified conversion between brands.
Why is a nearly empty board still counted?
The tool divides the complete rectangular canvas into sections. It does not optimize board usage by moving parts of the design.
