Know Where Your Draft Lives

Each maker keeps one automatic draft in this browser when browser storage is available. It includes the chart, materials, craft settings, row notes, current row, completion marks and print preferences. Source images, image-preparation settings and undo history are not retained. Clearing site data or using another device will not recover the draft.

Keep Separate Works in My Projects

Expand My projects · on this browser and choose Save to library. Reopening a saved work enables Update saved project; Save as new copy creates an independent snapshot. Search finds projects for the current maker. The library also keeps row progress, notes and print preferences. It does not update automatically when you draw: use Update saved project again when you want to replace that saved copy. The automatic draft remains separate.

Archive, Restore or Delete a Saved Work

Archive hides a saved project without changing the open chart. Enable Show archived projects and choose Restore to bring it back. To free space, download and verify a backup, then choose Delete permanently on an archived project and confirm. Permanent deletion cannot be undone; it removes only that library copy, not the open chart or automatic draft. A newer revision in another tab prevents a stale deletion. Download JSON works for active and archived projects.

Download an Editable Backup

Save project downloads JSON. Check that the file reached your downloads, then rename it on your device if you want to keep several versions. Open it using Open project in the same maker. A tapestry project is not interchangeable with a bead project; the import check prevents the wrong craft rules from being applied.

Back Up All Makers Together

Back up all makers prepares library JSON files with active and archived projects, row progress, notes and print preferences. Large libraries are split into parts of up to 500 projects and 50 MB each. Download and verify every part, then restore each part once. Repeating a restore creates additional copies. Use Restore library backup within My projects on another browser. Review the project count and confirm: restoration adds new copies, preserves archive status and never overwrites existing work. Invalid files and failed storage writes leave the existing library unchanged. Verify the download before clearing data or deleting projects. Single-chart JSON files belong in Open project instead.

Use Make Mode to Track Rows

Switch from Design to Make to lock drawing. Select the current row, follow its information and use Mark row complete or Complete & next. You can mark a row unfinished or reset progress. This tracks whole rows, not individual stitches. Progress travels with the downloaded project and the local draft.

Review Progress after Editing

Changing a row or its materials can invalidate a completion mark; affected marks are removed. Resizing clears all marks. This avoids presenting changed work as already completed. Review your physical work before marking it again. Make mode does not verify that a stitch has actually been made.

Respond to a Save Warning

If browser storage is unavailable or full, keep the tab open and download a project. Retry automatic save only after addressing storage access. If another tab changed the draft, download the version in this tab before choosing whether to open the saved draft or replace it. Do not assume both tabs have synchronized. Unreadable library records are listed separately in recovery options and excluded from normal backups with a warning. Download their original data and verify the file before confirming removal. These raw recovery files need technical inspection and cannot be restored through Open project or Restore library backup; records that cannot be exported safely remain untouched.

Save a Cloud Project Explicitly

Sign in, open a pattern and choose Save to cloud. In your account, My projects separates this browser’s library from Cloud projects. Open a cloud project there to continue on another device, then save changes explicitly. Signing in does not upload existing local projects or source photos. If another tab has saved a newer revision, keep a backup of your current chart and reopen the cloud version before retrying.

Understand Cloud Limits and Versions

Free accounts can keep 5 cloud projects across all five makers. Maker Plus allows 100 projects, folders and the latest 20 saved versions per project. Archived projects still count toward the limit. After Plus expires, excess projects remain readable and exportable; choose up to 5 to keep editing on Free. Larger charts remain readable, trackable and exportable, but edits above 160 × 160 require Plus. History is retained but restoring older versions requires an active Plus membership. No automatic cleanup is currently enabled.

Keep Your Original Image Separately

The editor processes images locally and does not include source photos in project JSON, local libraries or cloud snapshots. Keep the original if you intend to regenerate later. Clearing this site’s browser data removes local drafts and saved local projects, including archived ones; it does not delete projects explicitly saved to your account. Download backups before clearing data or deleting projects. Cloud library backups contain current snapshots and archive status, not folders or version history, and restore as local copies.

Before you start

  • The JSON file is present in downloads.
  • The source image is stored separately if needed.
  • The same maker is used when reopening.
  • Progress has been checked after design changes.

Saving & printing Questions

Will signing in synchronize my charts?

Signing in alone does not upload or synchronize local charts. Choose Save to cloud in the editor or upload a local project from your account’s My projects page. Open that cloud project on another device and save subsequent changes explicitly. Local drafts and downloaded JSON remain independent copies.

Can a PDF replace the JSON backup?

No. PDF is for reading and printing; JSON preserves the editable grid and project settings.
